Above, Below and Beyond

My solo show at the Kittredge Gallery was a highlight for me this year. The gallery is located on the University of Puget Sound campus in Tacoma, Washington. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the wide range of ideas and mediums I work with and teaching with Becky Frehse in her painting class was a delight. The exhibit included oil and walnut ink paintings of the forest and the Port of Olympia, charcoal drawings from the woods, and digital photographic prints captured by my Phantom Drone. The centerpiece of the show was a 9’ X 12’ triptych, oil on canvas titled “Joyce’s Ravine”. This painting was in progress when my longest and dearest friend, Joyce Peterson, died in July of 2018. It became a place of refuge for me as I worked on it; I hope it offers a similar place of contemplation for others.
